Exploring The South: Sossusvlei Namibia

Exploring The South: Sossusvlei Namibia

Ever heard the saying “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations”? I can now relate to that statement. The journey was long, dusty and hot. The sun was blazing by 10 o clock and we only arrived at around 4 in the afternoon. I can’t advice anyone on when is the best time to travel but arriving in the afternoon all we could do is go into the pool for a dip. This was the best part of the day. Nothing comes close to a splash after a hot day.

What to expect is clearly on how open minded you are. We chose to stay at Agama River lodge and opted for their camp site. The welcoming staff were extremely polite and friendly. I am sure they could tell by our faces on how exhausted we were. By request they provide tents, beddings and a cutlery box enough to feed an army. It took a while for them to set us up but once our new home was setup, the excitement kicked in.

Our first night was spend at the camp fire, which was an experience on its own. Entertainment for the night was camp fire games which included sharing some embarrassing moments to date, that surely cracked everyone up. Moments are better when the people around you are easy going. We had some grilled corn, chicken wings and roasted bread. A meal that did not last more than 10 minutes in my plate since it was a long day. I would recommend that if you happen to travel the south, bring along enough food to cook for yourselves as it is way cheaper and way more fun.

Don’t get me wrong, I grew up in remote areas and sleeping in isolated places is not a new experience. However, hearing wild animal sounds at night was new, and me being me, I kept waking up by the sound of any little movement. Somehow, I managed to get a good night sleep and was up at dawn.

Nothing beats the silence of being outdoors, the calming effect it has and how it manages to center your thoughts. I woke up inspired to write down my travel goals for the year and am hoping I visit all the places listed. I can never emphasize enough the importance of travel but I can however encourage you to try. Take a group of your close friends and hit the road.

What are your travel goals? Do share below. Thank you so much for reading and if you happened to go down south please do share your experience. As per usual do not forget to comment, share and like this post.

Personally I love this post. As a person that isn’t one with nature, it really makes me look forward to a camping trip outdoors

There’s something about the breeze in the outdoors that makes it so calming and therapeutic. Add that with a few great people and an excellent pool, we’re talking luxury levels..

If camping is something that is out of your comfort zone, do it with people that you feel comfortable around. It is an amazing experience and you will never regret it.

The south is different from the rest of Namibia, it actually reminds you that we indeed we are in a desert. But its beautiful. Yay, am glad you are a traveller like me. Whoop.

    Hello ,

I saw your tweets and thought I will check your website. Have to say it looks very good!
I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.

I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive.
Can you recommend something what works best for you?

Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve: http://janzac.com/
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Hope to hear from you soon.

Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?
